"At Spalding Park Environmental Sciences Elementary School our mission is to inspire students to become lifelong learners, as they reach their fullest potential in a safe and caring learning environment. Our educational focus and philosophy center around one important word from the Sioux City Community School District’s mission statement: BELIEVE. If you believe, you will achieve and succeed.

 Spalding Park is a PBIS School, which stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a system for creating and sustaining a positive school climate by achieving important social and learning outcomes. Implementation of PBIS enables our school to: establish a positive behavioral culture in which all students can experience success, reduce behavioral disruptions in the school, and create a safe and effective learning environment to enhance student achievement. Spalding Park was recognized as a PBIS Honor School based on our fidelity of implementation and sustainability.

We have also been recognized as an official Blue Zone School and received certification as an Energy Star School from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). We are the home of the Pawsome Panthers: we show respect for ourselves and others, we choose a positive attitude, we take ownership for our actions, and we always try to do our best."
